The Safest Small Cities In Massachusetts, According To New Report

Frontpoint Security looked at how many property crimes were reported per 1,000 residents, and found nine MA cities in the top 50.

Nearly one-fifth of the safest small cities in America are in Massachusetts. That's according to a report released last week by Frontpoint Security, which looked at how many property crimes were reported per 1,000 residents in cities with between 50,000 - 75,000 residents in 2017. Those crimes included burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.

By those measures, Taunton is the safest city in Massachusetts, with 8.62 property crimes per 1,000 residents. The Bristol County city ranked No. 14 in the country.

Taunton was followed by Waltham (No. 22,) Plymouth (No. 27,) Weymouth (No. 28,) Framingham (No. 31,) Brookline (No. 35,) Medford (No. 38,) Peabody (No. 41) and Malden (No. 49.)

  • No. 28 - Weymouth, 10.23
  • No. 31 - Framingham, 10.37
  • No. 35 - Brookline, 11.23
  • No. 38 - Medford, 11.55
  • No. 41 - Peabody, 11.84
  • No. 49 - Malden, 12.77
