Second Vigil Planned in Waltham for Immigrants and Refugees
Off the heels of a rally earlier this month, Waltham Concerned Citizens will hold a second vigil this weekend.
WALTHAM, MA – Weeks after standing against the president's executive orders, local advocacy group Waltham Concerned Citizens will hold a second vigil in support of immigrants and refugees.
The rally will take place this Saturday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to noon at the corner of Main and Moody streets on the Waltham Common.
Several Waltham residents have been outspoken in their support of immigrants in the days following the orders, and a recent petition to the mayor and city council prompted a response from Mayor Jeannette McCarthy outlining the city's immigration policy, as well as a pledge from officials to stand by the city's immigrants.

Waltham Concerned Citizens is calling on its neighbors to join them in opposing what they call an "attack on immigrants, refugees and civil liberties in general" and supporting their fellow citizens.
WCC was founded in 1981, initially to call for a nuclear weapons freeze. It has since expanded to other issues, including U.S. intervention in Iraq, Central America, Afghanistan and the Middle East, affordable housing, civil liberties and the environment. It holds regular peace vigils on the first and third Saturdays of every month.
