Snow Emergency Declared in Waltham

Schools were closed and parking bans were in effect Monday.

WALTHAM, MA - A snow emergency was declared for Waltham Monday.

The Feb. 8 snow emergency means there is no parking on city streets. If you are unable to park in a driveway during a parking ban, you may use any municipal or school parking lot and you do not have to pay the meters to park.

After the parking ban is lifted you have two hours to remove cars from school lots and 24 hours to remove vehicles from municipal lots.

Waltham public schools and the library were shut down Monday in anticipation of winter storm Mars.

The Historical Commission meeting scheduled for Monday was rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service predicted between three and five inches of snow for Waltham on Monday. Another two to four inches of snow could accumulate over Monday night.

One to two inches of snow are expected on Tuesday, and there are chances of snow showers continuing through Thursday.
