Student from Brookline Takes 2nd Place at Emerson College E3 Expo

Marni Musmon was awarded for her high-end dinner party kit, Party Parcel.

BROOKLINE, MA - An Emerson College senior from Brookline was this year's runner up at the school's annual E3 Expo for her business, Party Parcel.

The brainchild of Marni Musmon, a 23-year-old Marketing Communications major at Emerson, Party Parcel is a home delivery kit that contains 16 different items for each person at a dinner party.

Musmon told Patch she came up with the idea after wanting to host a dinner party for friends and being unable to find matching items online.

Discouraged, she went to a store in the hopes of finding a broader selection and was disappointed.

"I thought, there must be a happy medium," Musmon said.

Party Parcel contains salad plates, dinner plates, champagne glasses, cups, tablecloths, napkins, place cards and a number of other items essential to hosting a dinner party for eight people.

Customers also have the option of customizing the options or adding on place settings for an additional cost.

"Much of the items people will be able to reuse so you don't have to pick out new glassware," Musmon said. "It takes a lot of stress out of party planning and streamlines the experience."

The items are faux glass, which makes them easier to maintain. Musmon said she was surprised by how many people at the expo understood the need for Party Parcel.

"They were like 'it's perfect' because anyone who has hosted a dinner party knows it's stressful," Musmon said. "The general reaction was that it makes sense."

Musmon received $3,000 for her business at the April 22 expo. She said once she graduates she intends to work part time on developing Party Parcel while she looks for a job.

She currently has a substantial number of items in inventory and is in the process of establishing a website for her product.

"I'm excited to see where it goes," Musmon said. "I think there's a lot of avenues I can take this."
