Suspicious Death, Possible Murder On Adams: Police And DA Investigating

Middlesex District Attorney and Waltham Police are investigating a death on Adams. A young Waltham man is in custody in connection with it.

WALTHAM, MA — Police have a teen in custody in connection with what they're calling the suspicious death of a woman in her 30's on Adams Street.

Around 2:40 a.m. someone called police to report an assault on a woman. When police arrived to the home, they found a woman, dead.

Police arrested Waltham resident Derrick Lopez, 18, in connection with the incident and charged him with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and armed assault with intent to murder.

Police said they did not believe the assault or the death to be random and are saying they don't believe there is danger to the general public.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Keith MacPherson in conjunction with the State Police are conducting the investigation. The case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the cause and manner of death. No further information will be released pending the notification of next of kin of the decedent and the Medical Examiner’s ruling, according to the DA's office.
