WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Board of Health is set to vote on a potential indoor mask mandate on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m in the Waltham Government Center auditorium.

The vote will come after a meeting on Wednesday Sept. 15 that gave residents an opportunity to weigh in on the mandate. Public comments will not be allowed at this week's meeting, but residents are still invited to watch.

The topic of mask mandates has remained heated in Waltham, with many residents speaking out against the Waltham School Committee's decision to require masks for all public school students this fall and expressing disapproval over the potential indoor mask mandate.

Waltham's two-week case count jumped by 54 last week, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. As of Thursday, 64.3% of residents are fully vaccinated and 70% are at least partially vaccinated.
