U.S. Postal Service on Hiring Binge in Waltham, Watertown
A new report says the USPS is looking to improve service in greater Boston.
WALTHAM, MA – U.S. Postal Service offices in Waltham and Watertown are looking to drastically increase the number of mail carriers in the coming months, according to a Wicked Local report.
Over the next 18 months, the offices will look to hire 50-75 carriers, Communications Coordinator for the Boston District U. S. Post Office Stephen Doherty told Wicked Local. The hirings come amid an influx of upcoming retirements and subsequent carrier shortage.
Additional mail carriers will also help improve service in the greater Boston area.

Jobs start at $16.06 an hour with health benefits and overtime pay. After 6-12 months, carriers are eligible for a career position. Candidates must be 18 and have a high school diploma, be a legal resident of the United States and have two years of driving experience, according to Wicked Local.
