Upper Charles River Pathway Improvements Complete in Waltham

The occasion was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday outside of the Charles River Museum.

WALTHAM, MA – Improvements to the Upper Charles River Reservation Pathway have been completed in Waltham, and a new section of the path opened Thursday.

Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Leo Roy was joined by city officials, state legislators and key stakeholders at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning outside of the Charles River Museum to celebrate the completion of the project.

The Upper Charles River Reservation extends from the Watertown dam to Riverdale Park in West Roxbury. Its continuous public pathways snake along the riverbanks through Watertown, Waltham, Newton and Weston, linking the Upper Charles communities to Boston and Cambridge.

Several restoration projects have taken place through the DCR to encourage the return of local birds and wildlife; this most recent initiative improved the western side of the reservation.
