WALTHAM, MA — Fireworks are set to return to the Charles River this year for Waltham's July 4 celebration.
City officials recently announced the schedule of events for the July 4 holiday in Waltham, which includes the fireworks display and a family celebration at Prospect Hill Park.
Events in Waltham are scheduled for July 1 and July 4, with no city-sponsored or organized events scheduled for either July 2 or 3.

A barge will be set up on the Charles River near the Moody Street Bridge for the fireworks display on July 1. That display is set to begin at dusk, with the bridge being closed to vehicle traffic and open only to foot traffic starting at 4 p.m.
Officials have released a list of viewing locations, which include spots like Waltham Common, the Riverwalk and McDevitt School Field, plus more. A full list of spots can be found here.
Family Celebration
The Waltham Recreation Department is hosting a free July 4 Family Celebration at Prospect Hill Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature "food vendors, music, inflatables, patriotic crafts and games, amusements and an animal show," officials said.
