WALTHAM, MA — The City of Waltham is set to begin an auction for an item that you wouldn't typically associate with local government.

More typically seen at a child's birthday party, the city has partnered with Municibid to auction off a huge, double-lane inflatable slide.

The auction is currently live and will end on March 7 with bidding to start at $1,500. A link to the auction can be found here.

Proceeds from the sale will be kept by the city, with a news release from Municibid representatives stating that the funds could be used for "road maintenance, setting up local events for residents, community programs, public safety initiatives, and more."

The slide itself is 18 feet tall when inflated with an 11-foot-tall slide platform angled at 40 degrees.

Magic Jump makes the slide, which features "no-jump" safety meshes at the top, high inflatable side walls, a safety bumper at the end of the slide and proper use safety instructions printed on the slide.
