Waltham Bridge Eyed for Replacement
A proposal to completely replace the Woerd Avenue bridge over the Charles will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

WALTHAM, MA – A push to replace a bridge in Waltham is in its early stages, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation is seeking public input on the initial design. The proposal would completely remove the existing bridge on Woerd Avenue over the Charles River and replace it with a new infrastructure that includes sidewalks, railing, a deck and shoulder for bike usage.
MassDOT will have the plans on display at a public meeting Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Waltham Government Center Auditorium, 119 School Street. An engineer will be in attendance to answer questions regarding the project.
The City of Waltham will be responsible for acquiring rights to private or public lands, if necessary. MassDOT's policy on land acquisition will be discussed at Tuesday's meeting.
