Waltham Company Donates Hundreds of Pairs of Socks to Homeless

RTN Federal Credit Union collected 236 pairs for the 2016 Sox for Socks Drive.

WALTHAM, MA – Waltham's RTN Federal Credit Union was among 100 businesses, community groups, schools and individuals to donate to this year's Sox for Socks Drive.

The Sox for Socks Drive, a fundraiser held by Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) and anchored by the Boston Red Sox, provides homeless men and women with new white cotton socks.

Access to shoes and socks is often limited for homeless individuals living in shelters and on the streets; every day, BHCHP staff treats a range of foot ailments, from trench foot and skin infections to frostbite and nail disease. The best method of prevention is to help the homeless keep their feet clean and dry.
