Waltham Could Finally Get A New Clerk & More Things To Know Today

Riverfest was a success, senior citizens finally got their parking lot and there's a hot topic happening Monday night at City Hall.

WALTHAM, MA — It's Monday and that means it's time to get back to it.

Weather: It's going to be hot, folks. The temperatures are supposed to get up to the 90s, and feel like it's 101, according to the weathermen. That means drink a lot of water, don't leave your pets in the car even with the window cracked and check in on elderly and less mobile neighbors. Go to the library, or City Hall or a splash pool to stay cool.

Important meetings today: Monday night the Waltham City Council is set to hire a new clerk to fill the space vacated by Russ Malone after he retired last year. It could be Stephen Pottle of Worcester or Kara Wilson a current office employee in the clerks office here or it could be former city councilor Bob Waddick, who stepped down last year with the intention to apply for the city clerk position. In the past the council has almost always handed the high paying position to former city councilors.

What happened over the weekend?

You know that feeling Monday when you get back to the workplace and folks ask how your weekend was and if anything interesting happening and you just can't remember? Well, here are three water cooler highlights from the weekend:

Waltham seniors have a new parking lot at the Council on Aging. And there was even a ribbon cutting for the $730,000 project. It's a big deal and it took about a decade to get, so folks are pretty excited about the some 60 new spaces.

Riverfest! This weekend was Riverfest in town and the weather couldn't have been better for it.

The Waltham PD retired their last Ford Crown Vic. Yep. It's an end of an era. Good bye 452.
