For Immediate Release

Waltham, MA – September 20, 2018 – Sean T. Durkee, Democrat, Candidate for City Council in Waltham Ward 6, has received the endorsement of the Waltham Democratic City Committee. "Sean Durkee has demonstrated a life-long commitment to democratic values,” said WDCC Recording Secretary Chrissie Himes, "Helping candidates from school committee to US Senator, he has been in the grassroots each political season.”

The endorsement is a welcome surprise for Mr. Durkee, who attended tonight's meeting as both a lifetime member and as a candidate. "Tonight's endorsement of the membership is greatly appreciated. I couldn't think of a better group of people to work with." The endorsement came after his speech on who he is, how he got here, and why he is running for City Council.

Sean grew up in Waltham - playing Nipper Maher Little League, bowling at the Wal-Lex, and skiing at Prospect Hill. He became an Eagle Scout, headed to college where he received a B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. He then returned to Waltham where he earned a MBA with a concentration in finance from Bentley University, attending school at night while working full-time.

Then he stepped into the role of grassroots activist and volunteer and has worked on many of the local, state, and federal political campaigns throughout the City. "It's great that a lifetime of hard work behind the scenes, trying to make life better for others, is recognized as worth-while. Sean has worked hard, and it's humbling to see this endorsement." said Kelly Durkee-Erwin, Durkee Committee Campaign Manager.
