Waltham Gets New Firefighters

Six men recently graduate from state firefighting academy.

The Waltham Fire Department has six new firefighters.

Six men recently graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy sixty day Recruit Firefighting Program, according to a press release from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The graduates: Andrew P. Davis, Andrew A. Greco, George L. Lowe, Joseph A. Pino, Sevlin R. Sandoval, Justin S. Paquette.

“This rigorous professional training provides our newest firefighters with the basic skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely,” said State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan.

The six men were among the 71 graduates from 53 departments, according to the press release.

During the training, recruits learned how to respond to gas leaks, how to deal with hazardous materials and as we all as basic firefighting skills.
