Waltham Magician On America's Got Talent Heads To Semifinals

WALTHAM, MA — The magician who grew up in Massachusetts has America's votes. Shin Lim along with 12 others performed Tuesday night on America's Got Talent. But the results were saved as America voted until Wednesday night when the show announced that 26-year-old magician will be going on to the semifinals.

He was on stage for three minutes Tuesday, rising there amid the type of fog that one associates with magic and the mystic. After about 3 minutes on stage with a song by M83, called "Outro" blaring, the 26-year-old magician with the floppy hair and the timely wink, got a standing ovation from the room, as well as from all of the judges. That response from judges and fans at the quarter finals of America's Got Talent Tuesday night may bode well for next month when we find out who wins the $1 million.

Judges Mel B and Heidi Klum praised his charm, while Howie Mandel called him the best magician he'd ever seen.

Lim grew up in Action but now lives in Waltham, which is closer to the airport. And yes, he's frequently ordering takeout from his Moody Street food options.

The general structure of the live episodes focuses first on four quarterfinals, and then two semi-finals, aimed at finding that season's finalists. Acts which don't secure enough votes by the public or the judges, are eliminated.

The season finale when we find out who wins the $1 million? September 18.
