Waltham Man Charged With Stealing from Gym Lockers

A Waltham man is facing larceny charges after allegedly stealing from a Brookline gym.

A Waltham man is facing larceny charges after police say he stole from lockers at a gym in Brookline.

Police responded on Sept. 22 to 920 Commonwealth Ave. in Brookline (Gymlt) for a report of suspicious activity after an employee called to say that a man they thought was stealing from the gym was in the locker room. The employee described the male as white with a receding hairline and a forearm tattoo.

Detectives had viewed surveillance footage showing the man taking wallets and cash out of the men’s locker room previously in the month.

When police got to the gym, they founds the suspect, who had been put on a flyer to BOLO. Police asked the man to go back inside and roll up his sleeves, and also frisked him for weapons.

Police asked what the suspect had in his pockets, and he replied “Why don’t you find out yourself.” Police found wallets in his front and back pockets.

Bruce Demelo, 34 High St., Waltham, was arrested and charged with larceny from a building (two counts).
