Waltham Man Convicted In 2017 Cape Cod Rape Case
A Waltham man could serve more than four years in prison after a conviction on two counts of rape in a Cape Cod court.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A Waltham man could serve more than four years in prison after he was convicted on two counts of rape stemming from a 2017 case.
Anthony Collins, 38, of Waltham, Mass., was found guilty after a Thursday bench trial in Barnstable Superior Court for his role in a June 2017 sexual assault in the Osterville area of Cape Cod.
Collins was convicted of two counts of rape on one victim but also pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 on a second victim.

According to officials, during a weekend in June 2017, both victims went to a friend’s house in Osterville where other friends were present. Collins was roommates with the host, but neither victim had met Collins prior to that night.
"Victim 1 became intoxicated and was put to bed by some of her friends. Later, and after everyone else went to bed, the defendant entered Victim 1’s room without invitation and sexually assaulted her," the Cape and Island's District Attorney's Office said, in a statement.

"Additionally, the defendant groped Victim 2 on two separate occasions."
Collins was sentenced to three-and-a-half to four-and-a-half years in state prison followed by three years of probation.
