Waltham Nonprofits Awarded Zakim Fund Grants

The Lenny Zakim Fund awarded $625,000 to 53 grassroots organizations, including two in Waltham.

WALTHAM, MA – Two Waltham-based nonprofits were among 52 grassroots organizations awarded grants this week by the Lenny Zakim Fund. Healthy Waltham and Neighbors Who Care received funding at the Zakim Fund's 2017 awards ceremony on Monday.

Healthy Waltham promotes healthy eating and lifestyle choices to families with young children, recent immigrants, low-income residents, seniors and adults with disabilities. Neighbors Who Care matches seniors with local volunteers to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation among the elderly.

"The grantee list is extremely diverse and will help to change the lives of thousands in MA communities," said Jude Goldman, Executive Director. "The work being done by the organizations funded by The Lenny Zakim Fund represents commitment, creativity and activism at its best."

The Zakim Fund annually grants funding to homegrown grassroots organizations and provides resources, training and support to ensure sustainability for fledgling nonprofits and groups.
