Waltham Picks Clinton, Says Yes to Legal Pot, No to Charter School Expansion

A breakdown of the presidential race and hotly contested ballot questions by precinct.

WALTHAM, MA – The 2016 election is in the books, and America woke up Wednesday with a new president-elect – Donald Trump.

Former Secretary of State and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton overwhelmingly took Massachusetts, and Waltham mirrored that result by an unofficial count of 17,103 to 7,494. Voters in Waltham also voted in favor of marijuana legalization and against lifting the charter school cap, two of the Bay State's most contentious ballot questions.

Many in Waltham expressed weariness over the vitriol of the campaign and hoped the country would start to right itself.

Clinton swept Waltham's 18 precincts Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the City of Waltham:
