Waltham Police Start Collection for 100-Year-Old Theft Victim: Report

The man is a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, according to the Waltham News Tribune.

WALTHAM, MA – Waltham police have begun raising money for a 100-year-old local man after an alleged theft over the weekend, according to a Waltham News Tribune report.

The man is a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and reported he had two winning lottery tickets – worth $50 each – stolen from his apartment while he was away talking to neighbors, police told the Tribune.

Leslie Torres, 33, who lives in the same Pine Street complex, was arrested and charged with the break-in after the tickets were cashed at a local market, the Tribune reported. The responding officer established a collection at the Waltham Police Department and hopes to raise enough money to cover the man's losses.
