Waltham QB Named a Patch 'Player of the Week'
Veteran high school sports reporter Bob Holmes named John Coates one of Week 2's best.

WALTHAM, MA – We're only two weeks into the football season, but some athletes have already emerged as standouts on the gridiron.
Veteran high school sports reporter Bob Holmes dropped his list of Patch players of the week Monday, and Waltham's senior quarterback John Coates made the cut.
Holmes highlighted the senior's performance in the Hawks' 15-14 barnburner win over Melrose:

John Coates, Waltham -- In a thrilling 15-14 win over Melrose, the senior quarterback scored the first Waltham touchdown on a 3-yard run, and then ran in the winning two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to give the Hawks the win. Waltham scored all its points in the fourth quarter.
