“Mara sees first-hand how the opiate crisis is playing out in our courts,” Stanley said in a statement. “She will make sure our judges and Parole Board members respect the science of addiction and work to support recovery. Massachusetts had record opiate overdoses and deaths last year. Mara will be ready to tackle this tough job on day one.”

“Rep. Stanley has worked hard to get more funding for mental health and substance use disorder treatment,” Dolan said in a statement. “He knows we must have a Governor’s Councilor who sees how these issues play out in our court system every day, and is prepared to ask all nominees the right questions and make sure they are fully qualified to respond to our worsening opiate crisis in ways that support recovery. I am honored to have the endorsement of Rep. Tom Stanley.”
