Waltham Resident Arrested In Interstate Child Sex Sting

WALTHAM, MA — A resident was arrested on charges related to attempting to meet up with an underage girl, according to the United States District Attorney’s Office.

Mark Nacht, 65, was apprehended in Albany, New York on Friday, April 10 and has been officially charged with attempted enticement of a minor. According to authorities, Nacht exchanged sexually explicit messages online with an undercover agent whom he believed was a 13-year-old girl between December 18, 2025 and the day of his arrest. Nacht traveled to Albany for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity with the girl.

Nacht worked for Newton Public Schools from 2017 to 2023 as a special education administrator. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna Nolin said that Nacht last had access to the district in December 2024 when he served as a substitute school psychologist, according to a report from NBC 10 Boston.

"At this time, law enforcement has not provided any information indicating that Newton Public Schools students were involved or harmed by this individual," Nolin said in a statement to district parents. "The safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority," she added. "We will cooperate fully with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds. I recognize that this news may be deeply unsettling. We remain committed to open communication with families and staff, even when the information is difficult to hear.”

The charge of attempted enticement of a minor provides for a potential life sentence in prison, and any shorter term would be followed by a minimum of five years of supervised release as well as a fine worth $250,000.

Nacht was arraigned at Albany Federal Court on Tuesday, April 14 and will continue to be held. If convicted, he will have to register as a sex offender. The sting operation was conducted in part by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as part of Project Safe Childhood.
