Waltham Singers Selected for Local TV Competition
Music Unlimited and the ShenaniGanns will go up against 22 other singing groups, chosen from more than 80 potential competitors.

WALTHAM, MA - Junior crooners from two high schools in Waltham will perform Friday on the second season of "Sing that Thing!" on WGBH 2.
Waltham High School's Music Unlimited and the ShenaniGanns from Gann Academy are two of eight high school singing groups in the competition, which showcases amateur talent across New England.

Hosted by Boston Children’s Chorus Artistic Director Anthony Trecek-King, the contest divides its 24 teams into three categories - high school, collegiate and adult - and includes a cappella, jazz, spiritual, hip hop, show choir and classical performances over the course of eight episodes.
The celebration of various genres culminates in a finale, where the top group from each category performs a medley of selected numbers.

Each team will receive instruction from coaches Larry Watson, Annette Philip and Jared Bowen, as well as leaders in the local performing community like MIT Director of Choral Programs Bill Cutter and Rockapella member Charlie Evett, in Master Classes after each performance.
The other high schools competing are Beverly High School Vocal Ensemble; Hollis-Brookline Honors Choir in Hollis, NH; The 18 Wheelers from Wheeler High in Providence, RI; Mansfield High School Select Choir; Strawberry Fields from Bristol Eastern High School in Bristol, CT; and the No. 1-ranked high school choir in New England, Vibe from Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT.
"Sing That Thing!" premieres Friday, April 1 at 8:30 p.m. on WGBH 2.
