Waltham Smoke Testing of Sewer Lines Starts Wednesday

Testing will be conducted in the Beaver and Forest Street areas; officials advise residents to not be alarmed, as the smoke is harmless.

Waltham, MA – The city will begin smoke testing in the area of Beaver and Forests streets Wednesday to identify breaks and defects in the Waltham's sewer system.

Smoke will likely emerge from the vent stacks, holes in the ground and roof leaders on houses while testing is ongoing. It is described as non-staining, odorless, white to grey in color and - most importantly - non-toxic and not a fire hazard.

Residents are advised to not be alarmed if they see the smoke in that area.
