Waltham Snubbed by Niche's Top 100 High Schools in Massachusetts List

The school received a strong A- grade overall. See how it ranked in individual categories.

WALTHAM, MA – Waltham High School was left off Niche.com's 2017 list of top 100 public high schools in Massachusetts, despite receiving an overall grade of A-. The list of best public high schools was compiled by Niche based on criteria such as academics and student outcomes.

Niche, a website for researching schools, used a variety of factors, including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges students consider and reviews from students and parents for its ranking.

Waltham High did not receive below a B in any individual category, yet landed at 142 on Niche's list.

  • Academics: A-
  • Diversity: A
  • Teachers: B
  • College Readiness: A-
  • Clubs and Activities: A
  • Health and Safety: B+
  • Administration: B+
  • Sports: A
  • Food: B
  • Resources and Facilities: B+
  • Overall: A-

WHS was also the 40th most diverse public high school in the state, the 53rd largest and the 51st best high school for athletes.
