Waltham State Rep Candidates Debate Gets Heated
I held the incumbent to task the entire debate, and then he interrupts the third candidate in the debate during her closing remarks.

On Thursday, October 10th at 7pm, the Waltham League of Women Voters hosted a Candidates Night event with all 3 candidates on the ballot for Waltham State Representative (9th Middlesex District).
Watch the full debate and find a summary of my responses (and how they were substantively different than those of the incumbent) on my campaign website.
As the only Independent Candidate on the debate stage, I — Sean Diamond — made the case for why voters should consider electing a reasonable, competent, and informed alternative to the 24-year incumbent who is also holding a position as City Councillor.

During the evening event (that occurred just as the aurora borealis was on full display over Waltham), the Waltham League of Women Voters allowed each candidate to have 3 minutes for an opening statement, asked 7 questions with 2 and 1/2 minutes for each candidate to respond, and allowed each candidate 2 minutes for closing remarks.
In the middle of the closing remarks by the third candidate on the stage, the incumbent Tom Stanley rudely interrupted Carly Downs to make the case that he was less privileged growing up as the son of the former Waltham Mayor than she thought. Once the moderator was able to get the incumbent to regain his composure, the Republican candidate was allowed some additional time to finish her closing remarks.

At the end of my closing remarks, I provided voters with a list of public events where they can meet me before Election Day, and I reminded Waltham voters that I am on the ballot as an Independent Candidate with the political designation of Forward.
Voters who requested mail-in ballots have already started receiving them over the past week, and voters will find all 3 candidates on the ballot. Early, in-person voting starts next weekend, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 5th.
