Waltham's Annual Doo Wap Concert

There's a slight change in venue, but Doo Wap goes on in Waltham.

WALTHAM, MA – If you're wondering about this rain trying to ruin the annual Doo Wap concert on the Common, well, have no fear. There's a back up plan given Saturday’s forecast, (Chance of Thunderstorm) the Mayor’s Annual Doo Wop Concert will be moved to the Kennedy Middle School Field House.

So the night filled with music will go on.

Get ready for a show to remember by Scherrie Payne & Susaye Greene, formerly of The Supremes with with Joyce Vincent (of Tony Orlando and Dawn).

Yes, The Supremes. Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene, Formerly of the Supremes, are genuine former members of The legendary Motown recording trio. The third singer in this trio is Joyce Vincent (of Tony Orlando & Dawn.) Since the trio's formation in 1986 they've performed to sold out audiences all over the world alongside other Motown acts including The Temptations, The Four Tops, and Martha Reeves and The Vandellas.

Opening up will be The Reminisants.

The band was formed in 1973 by three Waltham High School friends, Dom Viscione, Mike Joyal and Fran Doorakian and has since expanded to the current six man group.

Parking is available at Kennedy Middle School and Waltham High School. The City’s “Tick Tock” Trolley will be shuttling people from the WHS parking lot down the hill to Kennedy.

The Field House does have bleachers, but you are welcome to bring your own chairs.

What about food you ask? Uncle Joey’s Cannoli Cart will be selling desserts and drinks.
