Waltham's Patriot's Day Celebration: What To Know
The ceremony is set for Saturday. Here's what else to know.

WALTHAM, MA — Patriots' Day is Monday, April 16. The day marks the the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War. It's also Marathon Monday. That means schools are closed, parking is free and there are choices in how to celebrate:
As for what's happening in Waltham? The city's National Guard ceremony is set for Saturday, the Lexington/Arlington parade is of course set for Monday and then there's the Marathon.
Waltham's Patriots Day Ceremony will be near the corner of Lexington and Lincoln streets
at 10 a.m. On hand will be Massachusetts National Guard's Stephen K. Eaton. Unit #14

On Monday All Waltham city offices, Waltham Public Schools, and the Waltham Public Library will be CLOSED. Trash and Recycling pick-up will be DELAYED 1 DAY the rest of the week. Place your bins out 1 day after your regularly scheduled pick-up day.

- Retail stores: Most open
- Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Open
- Bars and restaurants: Open
- Stock market: Open
- Town Offices: Closed
- State offices: Closed
- Federal offices: Open
- Public Library: Closed
- Public Schools: Closed
- Post office: Open
- MBTA: All subway lines operating on regular weekday schedule with added service before and after the Marathon. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.
