Waltham's RTN Federal Credit Union Participates in Boston Summer Jobs Program
The program gives employment opportunities to Boston public school students.

RTN Federal Credit Union is a participating employer in the mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program for the City of Boston. According to an announcement, the program, in conjunction with the Boston Private Industry Council, provides employment opportunities for Boston public school students at organizations throughout Boston.
Urban Science Academy 2015 graduates Daniel Bordenave and Stefania Mesa have been employed 20 hours per week at RTN’s Dorchester branch, where they greet members, and assist and direct them with simple requests. RTN also has provided the students with financial education training to assist them as they begin their adult lives.
Through Basics of Money Management, presented by RTN’s Education and Financial Literacy Coordinator Kerri McLaughlin, CCUFC, Bordenave and Mesa have learned tools and techniques for budgeting, developing financial goals, choosing the appropriate financial institution, and understanding and properly maintaining credit, said the release.

“Through RTN’s participation in the Mayor’s program, Stefania and Daniel are getting a glimpse of what the business world holds and a chance to learn and explore what a career in the credit union industry may offer,” says Dorchester Branch Manager Cimar Argote, who supervises the students, in a statement.
Upon completing their assignments at RTN, Bordenave and Mesa will be college freshmen this fall: Bordenave at Northeastern University, where he will study business; and Mesa, as a finance major at Cambridge College.
