The Waltham Police Department has immediate openings for cadets. The results of this examination will be used as a recruitment resource to fill vacancies for the Waltham Police Department Cadet Program.

Location: Government Center, 119 School Street, Waltham, MA 02451

Exam Time: 9 a.m.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: A Cadet is a person who is interested in a career in law enforcement. The age requirement for cadet is regulated by MGL Ch. 147, S 21A. Must be no less than 18 years old nor have attained your 23rd birthday. Employment must be terminated on your 25th birthday. Must be a Waltham resident at time of application and duration of employment. A Cadet must be interested in serving the community. Must be a licensed Massachusetts driver with a good driving record. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays. Must be a high school graduate. Must be willing to attend college and take law enforcement courses towards a degree if she or he hasn’t already done so.

DUTIES: As a Police Cadet you will perform the following duties as well as gain the opportunity to jump-start your career in law enforcement:

• Handle prisoner checks and releases
• Fingerprint and photograph prisoners
• Answer business and emergency phone calls
• Take police reports
• Maintain records
• Conduct warrant checks
• Make frequent contact with citizens, police and supervisors

YOU MUST PASS:

• Written exam
• Oral board interview
• Background investigation
• Medical exam & drug test
• Strength and agility test
• Psychological exam
