Ward 6 election. Sharline Nabulime is an exceptional candidate

She will bring transparency and vision to decision-making, and ensure our voices are heard and our needs met

I recently met Sharline Nabulime when she ventured down our driveway during one of her tireless rounds canvassing our neighborhood. She explained that she was running for Waltham’s ward 6 city council seat in the September 25th election. She wanted to know what my biggest concerns and questions are about our city, and we soon were engrossed in conversation.

I love this city and feel it has come a long way over the years, but I also find myself frustrated. With its strong tax base and great resources, why are so many of the roads in poor condition? Why so many dangerous intersections? As real estate prices go through the roof throughout greater Boston, I worry that affordable housing and green spaces, especially the Waltham Community Gardens, are under threat from developers.

This city has incredible assets and enormous potential, yet if there is a vision or master plan for the future of Waltham, I have not seen it. Communications from the city can be improved in other ways. Large construction projects in our immediate vicinity are constantly taking place with no notice or explanation to surrounding residents. This stands in striking contrast to our next door neighbor, Bentley University, which unfailingly notifies us about any proposed work that might inconvenience us.

From my conversations with Sharline, I know she is committed to listening to her neighbors and will help make sure that the city responds. She will work as tirelessly for the residents of Ward 6 as she has in canvassing thousands of her neighbors over the past months. A refugee from Uganda who became a U.S. citizen, she holds democratic governance and the right to vote as sacred responsibilities. She has inspired me to become involved!Sharline is the kind of leader and representative our city needs. I hope you will consider voting for her this Tuesday, September 25th.
