WATCH: Celtics' Isaiah Thomas Spreads Holiday Cheer to Military Families in Waltham
The star point guard showed why he is as much of a role model off the court as he is on it.
WALTHAM, MA – On the court, Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas is focused on his game. But off it, the point guard has another mission – spreading smiles to some of his littlest fans.
Thomas gave back to military families in Waltham at his Season of Giving event this month, where he played the role of a surrogate Santa and stuck around for a day of games. According to Sarah Sweeney of the Military Friends Foundation, many of the kids who attended either had a parent who had been deployed the previous Christmas or one who was preparing to deploy after the holidays.
"This is what it's about," Thomas said in an interview with local media. "This is bigger than winning basketball games."
