We Support Sean Durkee

We write to express our support for Sean Durkee in the Ward 6 City Council Preliminary Election on August 7, 2018. We have gotten to know Sean through our mutual participation in the Race Around Waltham 5k series, Waltham Land Trust events, and other community service opportunities.

As both an Iraq War veteran and a Warrant Officer in the Army Reserves, Sean knows what it means to serve our country and our community. Army Warrant Officers, such as Sean, are often described as the technical backbone of the military. They are managers, problem solvers, key influencers and planners, who lead Enlisted Soldiers. Sean has demonstrated he has what it takes to plan, lead, and execute difficult missions in even the most challenging circumstances. He will bring these same skills to the Waltham City Council.

Sean also will bring many years of experience as a financial analyst, which is critical to Waltham’s continued success. As a local homeowner, he understands the impact City Council decisions have on individual taxpayers. As an MBA, former business manager, and administrator of multi-million dollar government contracts, Sean understands the complexities of government funding and how to navigate difficult bureaucratic systems to generate results.

Sean has deployed several times all over the world and has a unique appreciation for the impact local governments have on the lives of individuals and the significance of the integrity of local decision makers. His parents are members of the Waltham community and he knows firsthand the importance of supporting Waltham’s seniors by ensuring they have the resources they need. His sister, Kelly, and her family also live in Waltham and Sean’s nephew attend Waltham’s Public Schools. He will bring the perspective of three generations of Waltham to serving our city.

The Council needs the voice of a veteran who knows why local government matters and what it means to serve. We hope you will vote for Sean Durkee in the Ward 6 City Council Preliminary Election on August 7, 2018.
