$150K Grant For Wayland Will Buy Hybrid Police Vehicle
Wayland was awarded a state Green Communities grant in August for a variety of local upgrades.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland recently received a state grant to make environmentally friendly upgrades around town — including the purchase of a hybrid electric vehicle for Wayland police.
The $150,827 Green Communities grant awarded in late August is the third for Wayland this year. Apart from the police car, the grant will go toward installing LED lighting and retro-commissioning at Wayland High School — which will allow the town to fix inefficiencies at the school.
According to the state Department of Energy Resources, Wayland received close to $550,000 over two grants in July for other green upgrades, which will cover upgrades at all schools, and electric vehicle charging stations.
