WAYLAND, MA — A vehicle entered the Sudbury River near Sherman's Bridge on Tuesday night, according to officials.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 8:15 p.m. on Apr. 21 after reports that a motor vehicle had gone into the water. The driver was able to exit the vehicle before it became submerged and was not injured.
Officials said the vehicle drifted about 200 feet downstream after entering the river.
Due to safety concerns, crews delayed efforts to remove the vehicle on Tuesday night. As of 9 a.m. on Apr. 22, the Wayland Fire Department, along with the Fire District 14 Dive Team, was working to recover it.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area while active dive operations are underway.
