📰 News we're reading

• Wayland Electricity Choice To Change Price, Move To Single Option (patch.com) — Wayland’s town-run electricity aggregation program will shift to a single pricing option in May, with a new fixed supply rate locked in through June 2028. Most Wayland Eversource customers are automatically enrolled and have already seen substantial savings, and the town says the updated rate should remain competitive while simplifying choices. Residents can still opt out at any time without fees.

• Wayland Imposes Outdoor Water Restrictions Amid Reduced Supply (patch.com) — Wayland residents will soon face tighter outdoor water rules as the town limits nonessential use during daytime hours to protect supplies and maintain fire protection. Starting May 1, automatic sprinklers are restricted to certain evenings, while hand-held hoses remain allowed for gardens and new plantings. The policy includes escalating fines and possible water shutoffs for repeated violations.

• After the fall: 50 years later, Vail gondola crash still harrowing for survivors (gazette.com) — A survivor of the 1976 Vail gondola disaster reflects on the crash alongside two friends who all grew up in Wayland. Now scattered across the country, they’re sharing how the tragedy shaped their lives and friendships after leaving their hometown for a ski-season adventure.
