Weather forecast:
• WHS peer mediation program to expand in '26-'27 (waylandpost.org) — Wayland High School is turning its successful peer mediation effort into a full course next year, giving student mediators more time and structure to help resolve conflicts. Led by Assistant Principal Sean Gass and counselor LaToya Downes, the program aligns with state law encouraging alternatives to suspension and already handles 10–15 mediations annually. Leaders say it’s reshaping discipline by addressing issues before they escalate and building student leadership skills.
• An eerie encounter on a dark road, a karaoke complaint, and an actual dumpster fire (bostonglobe.com) — Wayland police and a State Police dive team are investigating a submerged, unoccupied pickup truck with Maryland plates found in Lake Cochituate at Cochituate State Park. While the vehicle currently appears unconnected to anyone in Massachusetts, the State Police have taken over the case. The roundup also notes a karaoke noise complaint in Saugus and a battery-sparked dumpster fire at Acton’s transfer station.
• Volleyball Recap: Milford Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Wayland (maxpreps.com) — Wayland’s volleyball team continued its dominant season by sweeping Milford 3–0 in a matchup of top programs, then following up with a 3–1 win over Westfield. The Warriors, led by standout defender Mason Lee, have now won 11 straight road matches and improved to 22–2 overall. Milford’s loss snapped a four-match home winning streak and left them at 14–8.
