WAYLAND, MA — Wayland residents will have a chance Monday to weigh in on the town's work to reduce risks from natural hazards and climate change.

Wayland will hold a Hazard Mitigation Plan update during the Select Board meeting at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, with the town's consulting team, Jamie Caplan Consulting LLC, expected to present information about the plan and gather public feedback.

The meeting is intended to help residents learn about the planning process and share ideas for reducing the effects of flooding, severe storms, extreme weather and other hazards in Wayland.

Town officials are asking residents to share experiences with past hazards and help identify projects or actions that could protect people, property and infrastructure.

A FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plan also keeps Wayland eligible for federal hazard mitigation grant funding.

Zoom information will be posted here. Town officials said questions can be directed to Fire Chief Neil McPherson via email at nmcpherson@wayland.ma.us.
