WAYLAND, MA — Some Wayland voters may receive two mail-in ballots after an administrative error at a town office.

The Town Clerk's Office said Monday that it mailed 115 duplicate ballots Thursday. Voters who receive two ballots should destroy one and return the other.

Affected voters do not need to contact the Town Clerk's Office. Town officials said they can accept and count only one ballot per voter.

The error comes ahead of the state primary on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Depending on their party ballot and precinct, Wayland voters may select nominees for U.S. Senate, the Fifth Congressional District, Governor's Council, state Senate, state representative and register of probate.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Wayland Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road. All precincts will vote at that location.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Town Clerk's Office no later than 8 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The town apologized for the error and any confusion or inconvenience it may cause.
