Christopher Michael Walter

Christopher Michael Walter, 35, died on December 23, 2012 after a long battle with complications from a bone marrow transplant.

Chris was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 6, 1977, the beloved son of Christopher M. and Mary Ann (Josinger) Walter, both of Wayland.

In September 2009 Chris married Erica Olson Payne in Vail, Colorado. They lived briefly in Boulder, Colorado before Chris’ job took them to Australia, Singapore, and Portland, Oregon for two years. They then relocated to Wayland in October 2011 for Chris’ treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, parents, and brother, Matthew D. Walter of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Chris grew up in Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1996. He attended the University of Colorado - Boulder, receiving both a B.A. and an M.B.A. After receiving his M.B.A., he began work at Vestas Wind Systems, which allowed him to travel the world, negotiating sales of wind turbines in Southeast Asia. He loved his job and the travel opportunities it afforded. Chris loved the outdoors, including skiing, golf, sailing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and float trips, biking, and mountaineering. He never said no to an adventure. He also adored his two dogs, Cody and Layla.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann's Church, 124 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA (off Route 27).

Family and friends may gather immediately after the service at the home of the Walters, 78 Old Connecticut Path, Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chris’ honor to:
