Car Vs. Bicycle Accident Sends One to the Hospital

Wayland accident closed Route 20 for more than two hours Sunday evening.

A bicyclist was transported via Medflight to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston Sunday evening after a collision with a vehicle in Wayland.

responded to the accident near on Route 20 at 5:20 p.m., Sunday. Upon arriving, Wayland Police Sgt. Sean Gibbons said, police found a male bicyclist who had been injured upon colliding with a small sport utility vehicle. Gibbons said the most recent update from the hospital indicated the bicyclist's injuries were not life-threatening.

Neither the name of the SUV's driver, a woman, nor the bicyclist were being released Sunday night as the accident remained under investigation by Wayland Police and Massachusetts State Police.

Gibbons said early indications are that the bicyclist pulled out in front of the SUV. It does not appear any charges will be filed in the incident.

As a result of the accident, police closed a portion of Route 20 for about two hours Sunday night during their investigation.
