Dangerous Cold Settles Into Wayland

A wind chill warning remains in effect for Wayland and much of Massachusetts.

WAYLAND, MA - It’s definitely the kind of day to just stay bundled up in front of a fire if you can.

As of 9:23 a.m., the weather station at Claypit Hill School in Wayland was reading an actual temperature of -5.5 degrees, according to Wunderground. The wind chill was also reading as -5.5.

The bitter cold intensified overnight into Sunday morning, with temperatures plunging below zero and records being broken all across Massachusetts. Boston broke cold records in February for the first time since 1967 when the temperature dipped to -4 degrees at midnight, according to the National Weather Service. That cold broke records of -3 degrees set Feb. 13th (1967) and Feb. 14th (1934).

As of 7 a.m., the NWS reported that Bedford’s wind chill had dipped to -35.

It likely won’t feel like its above 0 until Monday morning, so cuddle up for Valentine’s Day.
