Dig In: Wayland Plans Big Earth Day Festivities
The town gears up for celebrations in April and May. Tour gardens, take in demos, and clean up the town.

As Transition Wayland said, “in this year’s logo, we stuck a fork in it, but we’re far from done!”
The active group that champions healthy soil and foods through local, small farms and gardens, is planning the town’s annual Earth Day celebrations.
Happening Saturday, April 18, residents are welcome to celebrate spring with backyard vegetable garden tours, a nature walk and lots more.

Saturday, April 18

1-5 p.m.: Tour the Community Gardens and stop by our Community Garden plot, the first garden on the right. We’ll be working on the beds, the paths, the plantings. Bring work gloves and boots if you’d like to lend a hand. Or just chat, learn and share your gardening stories and advice.
1 p.m.: Walk from the parking lot for Hamlen Woods on Rice Road. This guided meditative walk will bring us to Renee Bolivar’s garden.
1-3 p.m.: Backyard demonstration in Renee Bolivar’s garden at 28 Woodridge Road: Renee of Gardens by Renee will show her raised garden beds and greenhouse.
And on Sunday, May 4, Transition Wayland joins with the Wayland Green Team for a town-wide cleanup from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meet at the Wayland Town Building Gym. Find more information here.
