It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing in support of Dovie King's candidacy for a position on the Wayland Board of Selectmen.

I have been a resident of the Willow Brook community in Wayland since 1998, have been involved in several Town Meetings, and serve on our Human Rights Diversity Equity and Inclusion (HRDEI) Committee. Over the years I have observed and learned a great deal about candidates for public office, and I feel Dovie is an excellent candidate for the Board of Selectmen. She and I are both serve on the HRDEI Committee and I have seen firsthand how intelligent, dedicated, and informed she is in all aspects of her Committee work. Dovie is a natural leader, one who is committed to collaboration, transparency, and fairness. She is a strong advocate for all Wayland communities.

In particular, Dovie is dedicated to housing affordability. Wayland is certainly one of the best communities to live in America for many reasons. But affordability of housing remains an issue for families seeking to move here, or for seniors and others to be able to afford to continue to live here. Dovie’s vision includes expanding access to affordable housing to populations that are particularly vulnerable to housing insecurity: veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities. She will work with local, state and federal agencies to make vacant properties available in the housing market, leverage property taxes by eliminating waste, inefficiency and poor management - and listen to community concerns about their housing issues. She will be a good steward of our tax dollars.

Dovie says "The time for change is now." And I agree. I hope you will join me in voting for Dovie King as a new member of the Wayland Board of Selectmen at our Annual Town Election - May 10, 2022.
