Annual Wayside Inn antique show is bigger and better

What: The second annual Wayside Inn Antiques Show.

Who: Nearly 50 premier antique dealers from all over the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest featured in a lavish 20,000 square-foot climate controlled tent. Presenting sponsor: Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers.

New: Admission to the main show will include informative “Booth Chats” with experts on Early American Furniture, Oriental Rugs, American Painting and other topics.

When: Fundraiser and preview party, Friday May 13, from 6:30 – 9 p.m.  Main show, Saturday May 14 and Sunday May 15 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Why: Longfellow's Wayside Inn—a nationally significant historic landmark—is an old Inn and tavern that has been serving travelers along the old Boston Post Road for almost 300 years. What began as an extension of David Howe's family home in 1716, the Inn has thrived through years of growth and expansion and survived because of its important history and beautiful setting.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to The Wayside Inn Historic Site, the 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that oversees the sprawling 122-acre campus. The grounds include Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, The Gristmill, the Schoolhouse, and the Martha-Mary Chapel, along with many scenic walking trails connecting the buildings.  Funds raised will be used for upkeep of the grounds and buildings and for informational and educational purposes.

Admission to the preview party on Friday, May 13, is $150 at the door or $125 with advance registration. The regular show dates, Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, carry a $10 at the door admission.
