The folks behind the Wayland Winters Farmers’ Market (Russell’s Garden Center) are collecting hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for the Action for Boston Community Development.

They will be taking up this collection all this week and for the remainder of the market, which is March 14.

The donated items certainly do not have to be homemade, but are welcomed if they are.

ABCD’s Chris Sieber reports, ”We can indeed use hats and other items of outerwear. We distribute them to children who show up without hats to Head Start classrooms, to elders, and to the families who call our fuel assistance hotline. They are much needed and very much appreciated by recipients--hand-knitted items especially send such a personal, caring message.”
