Local Man Elected President Of American Jewish Committee
Michael Tichnor served two terms on the select board, and is a Boston-area real estate entrepreneur.

WAYLAND, MA — A town resident and former member of the Wayland Select Board was elected recently as president of one of the largest Jewish advocacy organizations in the world, the American Jewish Committee.
Michael Tichnor served from 2004 to 2010 on the select board, and before that served two terms on the Wayland Finance Committee. He was also the president of the Boston-area real estate firm Tichnor Properties.
Tichnor previously served as the AJC's New England regional president and on its board of governors. He also helped found and lead the Congregation Or Atid along Concord Road in Wayland.

“From its founding in 1906, AJC has stood up for the Jewish people and Israel time and time again, and today is no different," Tichnor said in a news release after his election. "The founders of AJC used the motto ‘Let us prove strong for the sake of our people.’ During these complex, threatening and challenging times, I know that AJC leaders and supporters join me in saying that ‘we MUST prove strong for the sake of our people, our children and grandchildren.'"
