Got Grit? Developing Passion and Perseverance in Kids
Got Grit? Developing Passion and Perseverance in Kids Thursday, Jan. 8th, 7-8:45 p.m. in the Wayland Middle School Auditorium.

Grit is passion and perseverance for long term goals and what some believe is a key ingredient to success. Being able to set goals, work towards them while facing adversity, and being resilient are skills needed to succeed.
Optimism and self-control are also key components to promoting grit. This skill set can be fostered, especially in children from the ages of nine through eighteen. The Wayland Children and Parents Association is pleased to invite Dr. Amy Lyon to teach parents some practical strategies to help kids become grittier!
Dr. Lyon teaches fifth grade in Sutton, NH, as well as a literacy course at Colby-Sawyer College. Amy has been asked to work with a team from the University of Pennsylvania on instilling grit and feelings of belonging with inner city school children in Baltimore.
